U9 girls' v cargilfield

Two very excited teams of Form 5 girls gathered on the astro for their first ever hockey match. Having had just two games sessions, the girls were keen to know their positions and begin playing. The A team went first and led the way with some fantastic passes. Rosie and Miranda J were excellent attack and together with Tallula tried very hard to score goals on many occasions. Hannah and Zinnia proved to be great defence and were helped out by Miranda J who also saved a few goals. Miranda SS was a good link in the mid field but the team just could not get the ball in the goal. Unfortunately for them, the Cargilfield team scored a goal very late in the second half having taken a free hit from the edge of the circle.

The B team played the next match and this was just as exciting as the A team match. A strong attack in Mia, Holly and Alice led the way as they tried very hard to score goals – all three dribbling the ball the length of the astro only to be tackled at the last moment. Tatiana and Nicole were a strong pair working as defence and Zinnia was a great link all over the pitch. Susannah and Ilona tried very hard keeping a eye on the ball and tackling whenever they could. Then came the moment the team had been waiting for! Mia with the help of Alice and Holly scored the first goal – what excitement there was on the pitch from everyone. The girls went on to win the match.

A super first game for you girls – you all played really hard and have improved tremendously just in the one match. Now you know what hockey is all about, there is a lot of room for improvement and we shall work upon your skills.
