Fantastic win for the u9 girls!
I was delighted to be able to ref the under 9 girls' match today in Longridge, as I don't often get a chance to see them play. What a great game!
The first half was a closer game than the second, with Longridge equalling our two goals. The play was very focused around the centre of the pitch, however a firm pass out to Tallula Douglas Miller on the left wing, allowed Miranda Joicey to get into position in the circle and score from a great ball by Tallula. Score athalf time 3-2 to Belhaven.
Mia Harvey, playing centre midfield, both defended and attacked well and was not afraid of her much stronger opponent! Tatiana Ramsay swapped off for Holly Mitchell in the second half. Both girls played well as left back although unfortunately did not see much of the ball!
In the second half the play flowed much better, Rosie Forsyth crossing some great balls out to both Tallula and Miranda who managed to score four goals each! Hannah Bruneau was ready on the rebound and also scored her first ever hockey goal! Although Zinnia White did not see much of the ball, she was a reliable defender and always cleared the ball away with strong passes, getting it right back up Longridge end.
Well played girls! Final score 9-2 to Belhaven.
Girls of the game: Tallula Douglas Miller and Miranda Joicey
