U9 vCargilfield v Fettes
U9 v Cargilfield v Fettes
After watching Cargilfield dispose of Fettes fairly comfortably in both their matches, it was our turn to take on Fettes. A swift passing move ended with a “Murray flourish” and the first goal of the match. There followed some good exchanges and a second Murray goal meant we were 2-0 up at half time. More of the same followed the break, 2 more “Murray specials” and the final score was a very satisfactory 4-0! On came the B team to take on Fettes B; again our passing game was geared to our goal scorer extraordinaire, otherwise known as Rex, and it worked a treat, the final score reading 3-0.
So bring on Cargilfield! Again the A team began well but were a little too tentative in the tackle and sure enough, Cargilfield took advantage and scored first. We then rallied and began to pass better and soon equalised, only to ease off slightly and let them score a second goal before half-time. The second half was a tight contest and could have swung either way but unfortunately, a badly directed pass ended with a well taken goal for the opposition and there was then not enough time to catch up before the final whistle. Final score 3-1 Now the B team was raring to go after their win against Fettes. Cargilfield were also up for it and scored first. But that was the last they saw of the ball for our boys took over and monopolised possession to lead 3-1 at the break. The second half was even more one-sided as Rex notched another couple of goals for a final score of 5-1.
In the end, Cargilfield won the A triangular, with Belhaven second and Fettes third. The B triangular was won by Belhaven with Cargilfield second and Fettes third. A very good afternoon was had by all.
