Form 3p's Experiences following their visit to John Muir Country Park
“Hello, do you come here to walk the dogs or for leisure?” was one of the questions we asked for our survey about the John Muir Country Park. When we completed our survey, one group asked people why they used the country park and the other group surveyed the litter. Now we know a little bit more about why people use the John Muir Country Park. There were also people running. Sophie and I also have memories of the park from our running on a Thursday afternoon – picking up shells, fir cones and nice stones. John Muir Country park is a lovely place, but we have to work hard to keep it that way.
Jeanie
When we went to the Country Park we were split into two groups. One group interviewed people about why they used the park and for example did they make their dog stay close if a horse was coming. The other group made a note of what type of rubbish they saw and made a tally of how much there was. I was in the group which recorded the rubbish. There was so much it was unbelievable. We also observed how people used the park. We saw a horse coming along and there was a dog running about, but the owner of the dog remembered the Country Code and called the dog back over and put it on a lead. When we got back to school, we made some Country Code dials in our next lessons – it was good fun.
Rosabel
When we went down to the Country Park we made a survey of the people who used the park and how much litter we saw. We lots of people using the woods, walking their dogs and when we went onto the beach we saw windsurfers too.
Harry
We went down to John Muir Park to complete a litter survey – we didn’t pick up any though, we’ll do that another day. We wanted to see how much litter there was and what type and I tell you there was a lot of it.
Tom
All of Form 3 went to John Muir Country Park and in groups asked people about why they used the park. One group made a survey and wrote down how much litter there was around the park. It was very fun.
Wills
We went to John Muir Country Park and it was really fun. We had a nice walk around but there was quite a lot of rubbish which was not nice. Most of the litter was in the woods, there was not much litter on the beach.

Form 3g record the results of their survey
During one of their science lessons, 3g used 'Excel' to record their results from the litter survey. They then displayed their results in various different graphs. Here is one of their finished graphs.
