Belhaven vs. Merchiston U-10 Cricket.

Merchiston win by 10 wickets.

On a day like to-day it seems only fair that much credit should go to Merchiston, for putting out a team packed with skill and talent. On to-day’s showing, Merchy have several fine bowlers who bowl both accurately and also fast, and our batsmen struggled to make any shots of any good length. No surprise then that several Belhaven wickets should fall to excellent, clean bowling and safe catches. Merchy’s batsmen are equally proficient and stroke the ball around the beautiful Belhaven front pitch with grace.

Belhaven’s boys will have learnt some things to-day too. A good, stubborn defence from Theo Weir and some very brave shots from Tom Brooke stood out, along with the customary Alistair Prenter style of throwing his bat at any loose ball and more often than not, creating a good opportunity for himself.

Safe fielding all around from Belhaven, allied again with some very accurate and ever-quicker bowling from Tom Brooke came unfortunately too late as Merchiston reached their target with relative ease. It was good to give the lads their first opportunity of playing on the pitch with a leather ball and hope is there for steady improvement in the future.

Good effort boys, and very well played indeed Merchiston.

Belhaven man of the match: Tom Brooke for instinctive batting and accurate bowling.
