Rounders v St Marys

What a fantastic day for the Under 11 Rounders team.

Although our batting was a little tentative in places it was our fielding that stole the show. Amelia Cookson once again bowled strongly. As well as catching people out, Amelia also quickly threw the ball to a post to put another St Mary's girl out. Grizel Hocknell had plenty to do at backstop and threw the ball accurately to Mercedes Bannister and Emilia White on first to stop many St Mary's batters in their tracks. Rosabel Kilgour was very solid on second and worked well with Sophie Benson on fourth post. On a number of occasions, Rosabel would stump her second post and then throw to Sophie on fourth to catch out any dawdlers. Annabel Wailes Fairbairn was quick thinking on third post and nearly recreated her one catch wonder last seen at Loretto. Abigail Pooley, Jeanie Gibbs and Sophie Walker Munro frustrated St Mary's as anything that was hit into the deep was quickly fielded by the three amigos and sent to the relevant post to stop them scoring. Finally, Jemima Black who was batting for both innings kept the half rounders ticking over as her quick running and cheeky nature got her just in time to second post on a number of occasions.

A very, very encouraging team performance - it must have been Mairi Donaldson's  coaching from the sidelines.
