1st Rounders v Strathallan
Belhaven 24 ½ - Strathallan 9
Having finally arrived at Strathallan on a lovely hot Saturday afternoon, the girls warmed up ready to start the game. Winning the toss and choosing to field, they showed great skills and teamwork during the first innings. Any non hitters were stumped out at first post. Grace was in the right position each time for some excellent catches and Katya was quick thinking at second post to stump out the risky runners. With Strathallan setting a target of 5 rounders, Belhaven began their batting innings.
Kitty led the way this match with a rounder, followed by scores from Trea, Katya, Lydia, Franny and Claudia. Constant great batting from the team, finding spaces in the field and more rounders were scored. Emily hit one straight across fourth post, Daisy out to deep and likewise Ness all scored further half and full rounders. By half time, Belhaven had scored an impressive 17 ½ rounders.
Strathallan began batting again, but despite some great hits from their girls, Trea, Ness and Kitty caught out some of their strong batters. However they managed to start scoring half rounders and as we know it is sometimes these half rounders that count in the end. Strathallan managed to score a further 4 rounders this innings.
Our last batting innings was not quite so good. Strathallan were more determined to keep their fielding tight. Daisy was caught from a great hit, followed by Lydia and then Ness. With some of our stronger batters out, the rest of the team played hard, finding spaces to place the ball. Not as high scoring this innings but the girls had done the work to win the game.
Well done girls – great fielding again in this match. You need to keep it tight for our match on Wednesday against Cargilfield.
