2nd Rounders v Strathallan

Belhaven 19 ½ - Strathallan 2 ½

Having won the toss, our girls decided to field and played with true skill, catching the other team by surprise and getting three out on their first bat! Fielding was tight throughout and Strathallan were unable to score, with quick and accurate passes being made by Dobo as backstop to Hattie on second post. Fast reactions by the deeps meant quick passes to the posts, resulting in all but one of the team being stumped out by Iona, Hattie, L.M. and Bea on the posts. Strathallan managed only twenty bats before their last player ended up stuck at second, ending their batting with only one rounder scored.

Belhaven's turn to bat came, and our girls played it safe when necessary and knew exactly when to risk it. Some excellent hitting meant we soon totted up six rounders with only one player being caught out. There were superb hits and runs by Honor and Bea in this innings.

In the second innings the Strathallan girls were more cautious and played it safe, often not running on to second. But this did not stop our girls and Dobo made many brilliant passes to Iona at first who then stumped out five of their players! Well done Iona! The other team had no chance whatsoever to catch up and managed only a half at second and a half for no-balls and obstruction, bringing their total to 2 1/2.

Belhaven had a fantstic second innings in a game that they had already won. The batting was superb and the girls scored a fantstic 13 1/2 rounders. All players were strong but top scorers were Dobo, Tosca and L.M. Player of the match goes to Iona Brooks for her fabulous fielding.
