u10 rounders vs st marys & cargilfield
On such a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the U10 girls set off to St Mary's full of sunshine and enthusiasm.

The first match was against St Mary's with Belhaven up to bat first. The girls batted well, scoring a total of 6 rounders but still seemed in a bit of a daze when they began fielding. Several balls were dropped and many fell uncaught, with St Mary's quickly picking up half rounders. Despite Emilia bowling consistently well, the girls at the posts weren't quick enough with passing the ball and panicked when they threw it, often ending with another half rounder being scored. They began to up their game as the time ticked on and Cassia, Matilda and Jemima worked hard as a team, passing quickly and accurately to second post. This resulted in 5 players from St Mary's being stubbed out.
Belhaven 6 - 6 1/2 St Mary's
MOTM: Izzy (for her speedy rounder)
Ready for their second match (and after some catching practice and nettle incidents!), Belhaven were up to bat against Cargilfield. Slightly put out by their narrow loss, all the girls strived hard to bat and score. Unfortunately, a few were either caught out or stubbed at second post, making some silly mistakes. Julia hit some excellent balls, batting wide into the field. Moving on to field, Mercedes, Jemima and Rosie successfully stubbed out a chain of Cargilfield batters much to their delight. This boost in confidence spread across the field and with Silvie and Izzy working together at 4th post, no more rounders were scored! Cargilfield were a strong team and the girls had to put their all into the game. With several minutes still left to go, the girls were tremendous in their fielding and got the entire team out!
A close game but a very well deserved victory!
