Under 11 Rounders v Longridge

Belhaven 20.5   Longridge 5.5

U11team

I do not think I have ever seen a team smile so much at the end of a match. The fielding and batting the girls displayed justified their broad grins and sense of achievement.

Amelia Cookson led the surge of rounders with Rosabel Kilgour and Mairi Donaldson hot on her heels. Jeanie Gibbs used her fast pace to get round as many posts as possible while Grizel Hocknell was spurred on by her mum and sisters watching from afar.

Our fielding was once again very secure. Annabel Wailes-Fairbairn must have mistaken glue for hand cream just before the match as she took two outstanding catches at third post. Abigail Pooley and Sophie Walker Munro have developed the knack of standing in the right place at the right time in the deep with no hesitation when throwing the ball to the right post. Sophie Benson showed great awareness of the game both when batting and fielding. She knew when posts had not been stumped or when there was a dawdler coming towards fourth post. Both mistakes were punished on a regular basis. However, Grizel Hocknell and Rosabel Kilgour were devastating as backstop and first post. Seven Longridge girls had their game ended by being out at first post  - a very impressive performance.
