Under 11 Girls v Kilgraston

Belhaven 15    Kilgraston 1

v kilgraston

The first match of the season is always an unknown quantity and when you lose your goal shooter the day before the match it also becomes a little worrying. However, Isabella Baillie stepped into the role as goal shooter and although she looked terrified at the beginning of the match as each minute passed by she grew in confidence. Once she had three goals under her belt she looked a very competent player indeed. Matilda Laird was captain for the match and although she did not see too much action as goal keeper when the ball did enter into her third she was there ready to intercept. She was supported in defence by Rosie Barnes who used her height well when marking her player and moved around the court with ease always managing to get into a great space. Mercedes Bannister was a master at interception. She kept close to her player and timed her passing as well as interception of the ball perfectly helping to stop Kilgraston advancing to their shooting circle. Emilia White as centre was very impressive. She moved around the court quickly when attacking and then stuck close to her player when Kilgraston were advancing. Cassia Roberts helped to support the shooters by passing the ball accurately in and around the circle and kept up with the pace of our attack. Jemima Black was obviously on a shooting mission. With twelve goals to her name by the end of the match no one was left in doubt that she really is a natural born shooter.

Jemima Black - 12 goals        Isabella Baillie - 3 goals

Man of the match - Mercedes Bannister (for her fantastic intercepting)
