1st Netball v Loretto

The girls took off to a flying start in this match, scoring a goal within seconds of the first whistle. The attack was spot on, tight, secure passes, great spacing and quick thinking saw Belhaven keep possession of the ball. The goals soon mounted, Olivia was on fine form, scoring goals quickly. Rose too, despite a rather tall opposition scored a number of goals. By the end of the first quarter Belhaven were leading by 7 goals.

 

During the second quarter, Hermione stepped in to play WD, to give Bea a break. Intercepting the centre passes she passed the ball quickly and accurately to Iona on the wing and Hattie in the centre. Saskia, moved around the defending third, clearing the ball away from a determined Loretto Goal Shooter, whilst Tosca intercepted many of the balls which came her way. With the ball firmly in our possession once more, goals came from Mairi and Rose boosting our score to 13 goals by half time.

 

 

 

 

Refreshed and ready to go again, the girls kept up their determination to keep the ball in their attacking third. Talking to each other on the court, dodging the opponents and slowing down the game, Rose and Olivia soon had possession of the ball once more and scored a further 6 goals this quarter.

 

For the last quarter of the game, the girls switched positions. Tosca changed from defence to a shooter - ‘I can’t shoot at all’ she says – only to score each time she aimed for the goal! Iona switched to Goal Keeper, Saskia to a Wing and Olivia to centre. Adapting to their new positions, they played well and finished the game with another victory.
