2nds/u12 netball v cargilfield

 

Hopie and Ollie played well at Centre/WD, using skilled passes out to the wings under the noses of the opposition. Grizel, dodged her much taller marker, passing accurately down the wings. Cargilfield were a strong match for the Belhaven 2nd's and they had to work especially hard as a team to keep the ball out of Cargilfield's circle. Sophie and Jeanie were tremendous at shooting despite being shadowed over by Cargilfield's towering defence. Alny and Madeline worked as a fantastic duo in defence, intercepting and pushing the ball back out on to the court. The teams were at a draw at half time but as the pace of the game speeded up, Cargilfield pulled ahead, winning by just one goal.

After a quick shuffle in positions due to some players being off games, the girls worked hard together, playing in a team for the first time. Sophie, Jeanie and Gina were quick at taking centre passes and moving up and down the length of the court, looking for spaces. Amelia and Silvie passed out to Grizel and Polly at the wings who were exceptional at getting the ball from behind their tall opposition. Some accurate shoting from Poppy gave us the first goal but Cargilfield's height advantage, fast passing and shooting, quickly put them in the lead and despite Annabel and Bibi's enthuastic defence, they scored 11 goals to our 4.
