1st Netball v Cargilfield

Belhaven 1 - Cargilfield 15

Having watched two exciting matches, the Belhaven U13 team got into position and were ready to start.

With height against them again, the main aim was to reduce the final score of the game and this they did very well. The final score however, does not reflect how hard the girls played and indeed how many shots they did have at goal.

Saskia and Tosca defended the goal well but marking the Goal Attack and Goal Shooter who were a good head height difference was quite a difficult task. The two defence played so hard to reduce the amount of shots the opposition had at goal.

Bea, Hattie and Iona found plenty of spaces, retrieved the ball and carefully passed it along the court. Again, the high passes from the opposition went over them but this did not stop this trio from jumping to intercept and marking as hard as they could.

Rose and Olivia had the hardest positions in the game. Despite have many attempts at goal throughout the match, the tall defenders made aiming and scoring a goal an almost impossible task for these two girls. Towering over them, Rose struggled even to pass the ball when she received it, let alone aim for goal and Olivia likewise was frantically moving around the circle to help out.  Finally a well deserved goal was scored in the final third of the game.

The girls played some good netball and tried to adapt their skills in this difficult game. As the game progressed, the girls were able to stop the Cargilfield team from racing ahead with the score. It was the Belhaven girls who scored first, in the final third of the game and the Cargilfield attack only managed to score three goals in this third.

Another tough match here girls but you achieved your aim – to reduce the score from the last game.

Let’s work on some passes around the circle for our next match and hope that Ardvreck are not quite so tall!

Men of the match - Hattie, Iona, Bea, Tosca, Olivia, Saskia and Rose as you all played so well.
