1st Netball v St Mary's
Belhaven 15 - St Mary's 3

After a busy few days of exams, the girls took to the netball court with great excitement. Winning the toss, Hattie took the first pass and the girls soon realised they would have to work hard for the match. Olivia was on fine shooting form today and with the support from Rose in the circle, the two shooters worked much better together to create space and get into better shooting positions. Their pass back out to Hattie and Iona also worked well, and certainly kept the St Mary’s defence on their toes.
Our defence were also kept busy, Mairi and Bea were a great link as Wing Defence, jumping high to intercept the ball, whilst Tosca and Saskia stopped the St Mary’s shooters from having too many shots at goal. Hermione too, stepped in to play Goal Keeper and made sure the ball stayed away from the shooting circle.
By half time, the girls were firmly in the lead. Some quick centre passes from Hattie to Iona and then into the circle, gave our shooters more opportunities to score again.
A complete change around of positions for the final quarter allowed the girls to choose positions and try out playing somewhere else. They all rose to the challenge – even scoring two further goals!
A great game to end the season – your skills have improved, you slowed down the game and made sure your footwork was solid, and you all supported each other on the court, making passes easier and finding spaces.
Well done girls.
Goals scored – Olivia 11 Rose 2 Saskia 1 Tosca 1
Man of the match – Iona for great all round play and Olivia for some excellent shooting.
