1st Girls v Mothers
Girls 15 - Mothers 10

The girls kept up their winning streak on Saturday, when they played their Mothers at Netball. As the game started, it was clear that the ‘Mums’ had been in training this year! They leapt to a flying start. Mrs MacAskill stepped it to play ‘Mum’ for Tosca and together with Mrs Weir, they proved to be great goal scorers! The defence worked hard with Mrs Dobson and Mrs Greville Williams stopping their daughters from aiming at goal….and it worked. The ‘wings’ Mrs Brooks, Mrs Begg and centre ‘Captain’ Struthers, were a strong link in the centre. At one point the Mothers lead the way and the girls were trailing behind.
A change around of positions for the next quarter, and Mrs Donaldson took to shooting against her rather tall daughter, but there was still no stopping the Mums. The girls fought back and played hard despite some of the ‘new rules’ now in play – tickling the shooters, is certainly not in the rule book. However, by half time the score was 9 – 9.
During the final quarters of the match, the girls tried a new tactic, move Tosca to WD so her mother was no longer a shooter. With the mums still fighting for the ball, the dads cheering on the sidelines, the girls secured another victory!
Always an exciting game but this one was much closer than usual – well done the Mums and the Girls |
