Girls' U10 v Cargilfield

Belhaven 2 - Cargilfield 5

This was an exciting first match for the U10 team today. With only a couple of sessions previously, and playing on astro for the first time, the girls played hard and improved tremendously during the match. 

Cargilfield were strong from the start, with a couple of good attacking players. Tallula and Miranda proved to be a strong attack, supported by Holly and Tatiana. Zinnia and Alice played well in defence and kept the Cargilfield ball out of the goal on many of their attempted shots, reducing their score. Cargilfield scored the first goal and it wasn’t long before the Belhaven attack took possession of the ball and aimed for goal – Tallula scored the first goal of the match and the season! Great joy all round for the team. By half time, Cargilfield were leading by one goal. Belhaven 1 – Cargilfield 2.

The beginning of the second half did not start off too well. Two very early goals were scored before we were really awake and focused again – something to learn from for next time! Bridget proved to be a valuable player on the pitch, always determined to get the ball and Mia tried hard to keep the ball in our possession. Another break for the Belhaven team and a great goal from Tatiana boosted the team’s enthusiasm once more.

A good first game girls – lots to learn from this match. We need to focus on our spacing and movement with the ball, bringing the ball into the goal area and watching out for those feet.
