2nd XI v Ardvreck (Home) 20.01.10
Won 3 – 0 Scorers: Kit GC, Charlie R x 2
Today was the “agricultural” start to the hockey term that has become tradition in my teams. The boys turn up with more than enough willing and desire but it takes them a half to reacquaint themselves with any level of stick control. Whilst this familiarization is taking place, there is rarely much shape to the pattern of play. Credit to this bunch mind, once they had been given “guidance” from myself and a watchful Peeky, they started to dominate and play some excellent hockey. Man for man we were stronger than our opponents and gradually this started to tell. Some good work down our right from Will Plowden created space for the excellent Dougal. Geordie Younger alongside Dougal provided us with a strong centre pairing. Some neat exchanges just before half time gave a hint that we were managing to put together several passes with purpose. The goals all came from committed build up play and an urgency in the area that saw us first to any saved shots. This was a significant improvement on our first half work in front of goal. The goals were excellently taken by Kit and Charlie. Credit must go to Harry Clough who waited patiently in our goal for any action but was deprived of a touch of the ball throughout the whole match.
