girls' u11 vs cargilfield

The first match of season and after a quick warm up, they were ready to go...

The girls all played really well for the first time as a team, Captained by Jemima. Emilia and Jemima played attacking positions and used Izzy and Cassia efficiently, passing wide out to the wings. Gina and Matilda provided good support in defence, hitting some strong balls out of the D. Julia's debut as Goal Keeper was especially good considering that she had very little experience and she saved several goals from being scored by Cargilfield. Rosie showed some promising dribbling in mid-field and was always ready in a space to receive the ball.

Cargilfield were a strong team and scored a succession of 5 goals in the first half. During the second half the Belhaven girls were determined to score and with an increase in confidence, and accurate passing by Izzy and Cassia, Emilia fed the ball into the D for Jemima to score. The girls played persistently hard but unfortunately, Cargilfield scored a further 4 goals, firmly putting them in the lead.

Girls, you all worked really hard in your first match and we have learnt a lot, particularly looking up before making passes and not being afraid to dribble the ball. Well done.
