1st Netball v craigclowan
Belhaven 8 - Craigclowan 13

Netball - in the hockey term! It is always difficult for the girls to suddenly put down their hockey sticks and play some netball, just as it is in the Autumn term, when they pick up their sticks to play some hockey! This group of girls though, despite having had very little time to practise and brush up on their skills, played with enthusiasm and determination as the game went on.
Still a little sleepy and lacking in confidence as the game started, the girls made some sloppy passes, passing the ball right into the hands of the opposition. An early lead by the Craigclowan team, saw Saskia, Tosca and Bea keeping busy in defence. As time went on, they began to reuse their blocking in defence and regain possession of the ball from the Craigclowan attack.

Slowing down the game after half time, concentrating on passes and a set centre move, the ball quickly moved from Hattie to Iona and then out to Olivia on the wing, leaving the circle unmarked for Rose to take a shot at goal. This worked brilliantly as the girls used it, allowing Olivia some clear shots at goal. During the third quarter, the girls began to score. From being 0 - 7 at half time, three goals from each team took the scores to 3 - 10.
Regaining their confidence, the girls played the last quarter really well. In possession of the ball, they worked as a team, feeding the passes to all players around the court. By the end of the quarter, Olivia and Rose scored a further 5 goals to narrow the final scores.
If only we had another 10 minutes play!

You have certainly proved that you can turn the game around girls - we can now hopefully give some time to practise before the Ardvreck Tournament next month.
