Under 11 netball v craigclowan

Belhaven  13                     Craigclowan  7

With our netball season in the distant past of last term we had to find the odd practice session here and there to make sure that our unbeaten run was not going to be stopped by Craigclowan. You can imagine the tension that filled the air when Craigclowan scored the first goal. Our final pass into the circle was just not working as we were overthrowing the ball, not looking where we were passing the ball and choosing the wrong pass. However, Matilda Laird and Rosie Barnes fought hard in defence and after getting their distance sorted, they did not give the Craigclowan shooters much chance of getting the ball. All the girls worked hard at getting themselves back into their 'Autumn Term' rhythm and at the end of the first quarter the score was 2-2.

Not an ideal score, but it meant that we had not let Craigclowan gain any advantage in the first quarter. With some new ideas up their sleeves the girls were more determined than ever to pull away from Craigclowan. Cassia Roberts certainly had spring in her step as her high jumps helped to intercept the ball and reverse Craigclowan's attack into our attack. Jemima Black and Julia Tyndall capitalised on Cassie interceptions and added two goals to our running total. With Craigclowan only managing to score one goal we were beginning to see a bit of daylight between us. The third quarter was fast and furious. The girls could see Craigclowan starting to get tired and Mercedes Bannister and Emilia White worked incredibly hard to intercept the ball and make the Craigclowan girls run aimlessly around them with some clever passing. Two goals ahead and with only eight minutes remaining the girls knew that it was now or never. Within the first minute we had truly gained control of the quarter and we began to show Craigclowan why we were unbeaten. With both Jemima's mum and Julia's mum watching the girls thought it was only fair to show them what a talent they have for shooting as they added seven goals to our final total in what was a very impressive quarter by the team.

Although it was a very nervous start to the match once the girls got into their rhythm there was no stopping them meaning that our unbeaten season is still alive. Just the Ardvreck Tournament to conquer!

Man of the Match:

All of you but the most improved player from last term was Cassia Roberts
