Girls' U10 v St Mary's

Unfortunately today, with 3 team members competing in a cross country race, the rest of the U10 team had to work extra hard on the hockey field. They certainly rose to the challenge and tried their hardest on a very muddy pitch. St Mary’s were a strong and quick team – holding their positions on the field, they used this to their advantage. However the Belhaven girls, were at times more like bees at a honey pot! This will be something to work on for their next match – spacing out on the pitch.

A few early goals from the opposition and we were going to have to watch our passes and positions on the field. Nicole, Miranda and Alice tried very hard in defence and now they need to be a little more confident when going to tackle a player and be able to clear the ball quickly from the goal area. Mia and Tatiana played brilliantly in mid field, both going for the opposition and trying to tackle for the ball – well done! Bridget and Holly also played well, scooping up the free balls and then running back to defend when needed, but the players of this match had be Hannah and Tallula for their constant battle to gain and keep possession of the ball. The two attackers worked well together, passing to each other and ultimately both scoring a goal.

You were up against a strong and talented team today girls – you all played very hard and now see the need to space out a little on the pitch and dribble the ball away from a player rather than straight at them.

Players of the match – Tallula and Hannah
