U13 Rounders v loretto

 

 

 

A great start to the rounders season today, in which all the Form 1 girls played in this first match. Fielding first, the girls were not quite ready for the two strong opening batters. Realising they would still have to play hard, the girls began to focus on the game. Some good bowling by Saskia and quick team work between Olivia as backstop and Iona at first post, saw many ‘non-hitters’ out at first. The fieldwork became tighter as the game progressed and there were some great catches by Olivia, Bea and Saskia. Loretto were then all out with 3 rounders having played 26 of their 30 balls.

 

 

 

 

The Belhaven team took to batting with Bea and Olivia playing safe at first. Some great batting by all the team saw Rose, Saskia, Olivia and Olivia H all score rounders this innings. Half rounders from Iona, Bea and Tosca saw the Belhaven team finish the 30 balls scoring 8 rounders.

 

 

 

 

With a good lead, the girls took to fielding again. Some slick fielding between backstop and first post saw the first three batters out. Loretto found the ball more difficult to hit this innings and were too playing safe, trying not to be stumped out at a post. Bea and Iona made some great catches this innings and by the end of the 30 balls, Loretto had scored a further 3 ½ rounders.

 

 

 

 

Batting again, Bea and Hattie were not so lucky this time, both being caught from a good hit, whilst Rose was unfortunately stumped out at first post. The girls found it difficult to hit the ball at times, however with consistent great batting from Saskia and Olivia more rounders were soon added to our score. By the end of the innings, the girls had scored a further 8 ½ rounders.

 

 

                   

 

 

Well done girls – a great way to start of the season. We now need to work on directing our hits and finding spaces to place the ball, and keep on working on the fielding and catches.
