U9 Kwick Cricket v Loretto


The rules: Everybody bats and everybody bowls. Each pair faces 2 overs and bowls 2. A wicket costs 5 runs.

We batted first. Jock WM and Pandora soon settled in, Pandora got a 2 and a couple of singles whilst Jock hit two 4s and a six!                      Team total:18

Will P and Jemima were next and batted confidently, Will hitting three good 4s and a 2 Jemima was unlucky not to register a run.                Team total:34

So Hamish and Flora were next. Again after some hesitancy, they dared take the odd single before Hamish hit a couple of 4s to score 10.    Team Total:44

Jock B and Amy were now at the crease and found it difficult to get started before losing a wicket , an extra making their total -4.            Team Total: 40

On went Sophie and Susannah who soon made things more interesting by scoring a couple of singles and a 4 and... losing 2 wickets between them, scoring -4!

Would that be enough wondered the coach....

When bowling, we found it quite difficult to bowl accurately enough to take more than a couple of wickets though we restricted their first four pairs to 20 runs. Then came a strong last pair who pushed the total to 45!

So it was not to be this time, but the whole team learned a lot today: it was their first experience of a match-situation and I am sure that things will be different when the next fixture comes along. Well done everyone!
