1st Rounders and tennis v Riley

What a super way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. The senior girls certainly displayed some great teamwork in this match. Despite hitting well, the girls played safe and found it difficult to score at times. Some great fielding by the opposition saw four of the team being caught out, but with some great hits from Rose and Mairi, the girls scored and ended their first innings with 4 ½ rounders.

 

 

 

 

 

As they began fielding, the passes between Olivia and Bea, stepping in to play at first post, were super. Non hitters were stumped out, and quick thinking from Rose passing the ball out quickly to the posts, we began to get out other batters too. Three great catches this innings from Hattie, Rose and Olivia D saw the team eventually all out.

 

 

Batting again, Bea performed well, with Rose, Hattie and Mairi adding to the scores. Great hits from Saskia and Ollie were unfortunately caught and the girls ended the second innings scoring a further 3 ½ rounders.

 

 

 

 

Their next fielding innings was very tight. A great catch from Mairi, who just seemed to stretch her arm high and stop the ball, followed by another one from Hattie and Olivia D, saw some of their stronger batters out. Likewise excellent covering of first post by Ollie and secure fielding from Jeanie and Madeline saw Belhaven stop the innings for Riley after 13 balls.

 

A great display of rounders this afternoon girls – you will need to play like this on Wednesday at the tournament if we are going to do well.

 

 

Following the rounders, the girls then went on to play 2 sets of tennis. Mixed results but generally very impressive play all round.
