Belhaven vs. Merchiston U-11b
Merchiston win by 132 runs.
An entertaining match was won by a well-organised, skilful and bold Merchiston team. Alistair Prenter batted manfully to 24 and had the Merchiston field scarpering left and right to shots hit beyond them as he batted with courage and luck. A long knock from Angus Robison took the game to twenty overs but it was too little as Belhaven finished adrift. Merchiston’s batting was sensible in defence and then expert at dispatching any wide deliveries.
We are reminded of our need to work on accuracy of bowling when in the field, and protecting our wicket from straight balls when in bat – we will not win matches till we have taken it upon ourselves to improve our basic skills with both the bat and the ball. We need to take matches such as this as a learning experience as to how we need to work at getting to a higher standard. Good effort everybody. Man of the match: Alistair Prenter for some fast, accurate bowling and confident strokes with the willow.
