After their performance last Wednesday, the girls were keen to play much harder this game, knowing it was going to be a close match. Fielding first, a strong hit to first deep from Fettes allowed them to score their first rounder. Some quick and accurate passes to first and second post saw many of the Fettes team become stumped out during the innings. With the Fettes girls trying some strong hits, Belhaven kept their scores low. A great catch by Hattie saw their best batter out, finishing their batting innings having scored 2 ½ rounders.
An unfortunate start to our batting innings saw both Bea and Mairi being caught out from two good bats. Hitting well, we played safe as the ground began to get more slippery. Saskia whizzed round the pitch too fast to stop safely at third post so she was stumped out, but great batting towards the end of the innings saw Hattie and Olivia D score some further rounders. Belhaven finished the innings on 4 rounders.
The second fielding innings for Belhaven began well, with some secure passes between all players. Fettes now had an eye for the ball and were putting our fielders under pressure with some great hitting. By the end of their innings the total score for Fettes was 8 ½ rounders.
With a final score of 8 ½ now to beat, Belhaven had to play safe but yet, try to place their hits wisely in the field. A great rounder from Saskia led the way followed with half from Tosca. Along with half rounders from no-balls, Ollie and Bea and rounders from Jeanie and Saskia we finished the innings having scored a further 9 rounders.
Well done girls – much improved this week, now keep focused for the match on Wednesday.
