u10 rounders vs cargilfield

By far the most exciting match of the season...

Cargilfield batted first and were up against some excellent fielding by Belhaven. Stumped posts and caught balls knocked out 5 players in the first half, leaving the total rounders at 4 1/2.

Second into bat, the girls knew that they had to perform well to have any chance of winning. Tallula scored each time she batted, with Rosie, Hannah and Bridget also sprinting round the posts after hitting good ballS. Some risky moments but after a host of half rounders were scored, in 10 minutes they had made 5 rounders.

Cargilfield were determined not to be beaten easily and upped their game in the second innings. Some superb catches by Ram and Rosie along with several Cargilfield girls caught out at second post, the rounders scored were 4.

With 4 rounders needed to beat the opposition, the air was tense as each girl took their turn to bat... Nicole and Tatiana hit some strong balls across the pitch scoring some further half rounders with Alex, Jasmine and Susannah looking for chances to score. Slowly the girls began to take risks as the scores levelled out and they became desperate to win. With only minutes to go, only Rosie, Nicole and Ram remained. After a warm up in the first innings, Ram hit a sequence of wide balls on to the cricket pitch and seized the chance to score 3 rounders! Parents and pupils were jumping up and down on the side lines as we flew ahead achieving a clear victory!

Well done girls, you all did really well at both batting and fielding!
