Under 11 Rounders v Cargilfield
Belhaven 14.5 Cargilfield 9.5

For the third time we lost the toss and were put in to bat. Silvie Hoyer-Millar was Captain for the match and encouraged her team to achieve their highest score of the season.
In the first innings Jemima Black took control of scoring the rounders, closely backed up by Rosie Barnes, Emilia White and Mercedes Bannister. Cargilfield got off to a good start with their first innings of batting scoring three half rounders with the first three balls. The girls knew that this was no time to be sloppy in the field and with sideline encouragement from Silvie Hoyer Millar, Bibi Cuthbert and Matilda Laird the girls began to take control. Emilia White took a great catch from a Cargilfield girl who knew how to hit the ball, Julia Tyndall was certainly kept busy as second deep while Izzy Baillie remained calm on third post stopping Cargilfield turning any half rounders scored into rounders. Cargilfield ended their first innings on four rounders giving us only two and a half rounders breathing space.
There was no doubt that the second innings belonged to Belhaven. Emilia White wasted no time in extending our lead by scoring a rounder with the first ball of the innings. Matilda Laird, Mercedes Bannister and Jemima Black all gave her support as they scored an impressive seven rounders between them. Even though we had some daylight between us and Cargilfield they were not going to give us victory that easily. Cargilfield added another two rounders to their score after the first three balls. Composure was needed and Georgina Hope, Julia Tyndall and Polly Armstrong-Wilson were certainly kept moving in the deep as Cargilfield applied the pressure. Rosie Barnes and Mercedes Bannister produced a cry of 'how's that?' from the crowd of fathers as they got one of the Cargilfield girls out at first post. Matilda Laird at third post not only stumped a couple of girls out but also stopped the ball from entering the 'deep zone'. Cassie Roberts on fourth post fielded tightly making sure Cargilfield were not tempted to go for the rounder. Having had a great innings with the bat Jemima Black and Emilia White continued their impressive play with their fielding and as a result there were very few no balls and many girls stopped at second post.
A great team performance by the end of the match, we just need to be awake and not panic at the beginning of the match!
