U9 v St Mary’s

We travelled down to Melrose under grey skies but despite the cold wind, we did not get wet.

 As for the cricket, we lost the toss, so we batted first. Jock WM and Hamish did well enough in their 4 overs to finish on 20 runs, a pretty decent start when all’s said and done.

The other three pairs contrived to wipe out those runs and lose a few more along the way (remember a wicket = -5 runs) so that in the end, our total looked anything but unassailable as it stood at... 6!!!

So St Mary’s,trying not to grin too broadly, set about overhauling us, which, you might have guessed, they did pretty comfortably: by the end of their fourth pair’s inning, their total was 63.
