Under 11 Rounders v Loretto
Belhaven 11 Loretto 3.5

Georgina Hope was our lucky Captain as for the first time this season we won the toss and were able to field first.
All the fielders were on top of their game as posts were stumped, catches taken and Loretto rounders kept to a minimum. Polly Armstrong-Wilson amazed the crowd as she produced accurate throws from third deep right into the hands of Jemima Black on second post who quickly stumped the post to surprise the Loretto batters. Matilda Laird obviously thought getting one person out was boring and made sure she got two Loretto girls out with one ball. Cassie Roberts must have had glue on her hands at fourth post as she caught every ball that came her way. Cassie nearly pulled off the catch of the century as she leapt in to the air leaning backwards, one hand outstretched but unfortunately dropped the ball on landing. Julia Tyndall was not going to let anything get past her at second deep and had the great knack of being in the right place at the right time. Mercedes Bannister and Rosie Barnes were once again deadly as backstop and first post and handled the pressure from the Loretto girls superbly showing their high level of skill. Izzy Baillie was kept busy on third post in the second innings and rose to the challenge as she dived to stop the ball, caught the Loretto girls out and stumped when necessary. Emilia White held the team together as bowler. Her consistent bowling, quick fielding, safe hands and instructions to the fielders from the bowler's box helped the team remain composed and deadly with their fielding.
Our batting was just as impressive, particularly in the first innings when we wanted to pull away from Loretto as much as we could. Bibi Cuthbert showed everyone how fast she can be around the four posts as she punished Loretto for sloppy fielding. Silvie Hoyer-Millar and Georgina Hope hit the ball well but unfortunately the Loretto fielders always seemed to be in the right place. Jemima Black truly annoyed the Loretto fielders as wherever they left a gap, Jemima would hit the ball. As a result of scoring 7 rounders in our first innings it meant that we had already beaten Loretto before our second innings of batting.
A great team performance and good news as it appears we have got rid of our sluggish first innings performances!
