Visit to the Merchiston Labs

Each year Merchiston kindly invites the Form 3 members to a morning of Science in their labs. Six activities are on offer: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Computing, Design & Technology and  Electronics.

Boa

Everyone enjoyed the morning even though they could not sample every activity! Judge yourself by their comments and the photos. Thank you Merchiston.

At Merchiston Science Day the most exciting bit was blowing up jelly babies. We got to hold snakes and lizards and got a free piece of snake skin in a magnified plastic container. (Hamish)
I think the most exciting bit was making the game on Scratch on the computer. (Jock)
I really like making the key rings at D.T. and making the game in Computing. (Cleodie)
I really enjoyed electronics and touching the amazing animals. (Ariana)
I think D.T. was the best thing of all. (Edward)
I liked getting the memory stick in IT which was really cool and I liked the little rugby balls. The DT is nothing like it is here and was very fun. But I really liked the Physics. (Jamie)
I enjoyed the Chemistry when we burnt jelly babies. I also liked holding snakes. (Will)
I think the best parts were holding the snakes, meeting Bernard, making musical machinery and blowing up jelly babies. (William)
We touched lots of snakes and blew up jelly babies. (Flora)
I loved the rocketing jelly babies and all the wacky animals. (Sophie)
I really loved making the melted plastic key rings in D.T. (Susannah)
I really enjoyed flying jelly babies across the room and touching all the animals. (Pandora)
I really liked the D.T. making all the key rings. (Jemima)
