Conservation Club Marks Two Anniversaries with Two Completed Projects.
This weekend marks two anniversaries for Belhaven Hill's illustrious Conservation Club.
The first is the return of the highly enjoyable Inside Out Fun Day and the second is the second instalment of the extremely successful Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust hedge planting project.
In advance of these two events we are delighted to announce that we have completed two major projects. The swinging door of the Bird-Hide/Outdoor Classroom has finally been fitted with a latch to fully storm-proof the structure and the Milk Bottle Nursery has been moved to a more permanent location by the Back Gate.
The Bird-Hide will provide the focal point for Outdoor Education for many years to come and the Milk Bottle Nursery should provide a steady supply of young trees (around 300 per year) to plant out in our local community.
The Milk Bottle Nursery is also complete and seeds are germinating (starting to grow) as I type.
This high-tech tree growing facility made from pallets, fish boxes and milk bottles uses up-turned baked bean tins to stop the pesky mice from climbing the wooden legs of the structure. See if you can spot the tins in the photos above!
Well done to all involved!
