U11 Girls' Hockey v St. Mary's

On the 11th October the U11s played against St. Mary’s at Hallhill. They were feeling nervous but they have been playing some great hockey recently so I was confident it would be an exciting game whatever the result!

The first half was very quiet and at times the girls were standing around watching the ball. There was some good passing and super defending but we were a little slow. The game started to pick up towards the end of the first half and there were a number of attempts at goal. Finally in the last minute Cleodie broke through and scored a fantastic goal.

We knew that St.Mary’s would be ready to fight back in the second half so we needed to come back on the pitch full of determination. The game in the second half was super to watch. The girls were well spaced, they were using the wings and they were dribbling the ball confidently. We continued to defend well and get the ball out of the ‘D’ even when the pressure was on. St. Mary’s broke through on a couple of occasions and scored 2 great goals. Cleodie scored another super goal by dribbling past their defence and skilfully hitting the ball into the corner of the goal. The third goal came from Anna who received a perfect pass from Lucy, then dribbled in and took a shot from the top of the ‘D’. Our final goal was scored by Molly who was well positioned in the ‘D’ and confidently took a strike at the goal and scored.

An impressive game, girls! Keep up the good work.
