"A friendly study of the world's religions is a sacred duty:" (Mahatma  Gandhi)

Aside from serving the requirements of the Common Entrance examination, Religious Studies teaching at Belhaven Hill aims to support the general Christian ethos of the school.

Children acquire an understanding of the historical events surrounding the origins of the Bible and Christian faith, as well as a good knowledge of the main Bible stories and, most importantly, their continued relevance in today’s society.

As part of the ideal of encouraging pupils to think for themselves; to broaden their knowledge; to appreciate Britain’s predominantly Christian values within the multi-cultural aspect of the country; as well as well as creating a greater sense of empathy towards the non-Christian beliefs, pupils also spend time studying a variety of the main non-Christian faiths.

All senior pupils read from Scripture passages at morning prayers and all pupils take part in an annual Scripture Competition. Contact is maintained with local churches by attending services on a regular basis.
