Netball

netball

Netball is the major sport for girls at Belhaven during the Autumn Term. Every girl in the school takes part in daily netball sessions which are coached by year group – U9, U11 and U13. The different teams are coached by members of the teaching staff, who make sessions enjoyable and allow the girls to build upon their skills, coaching them to a high standard. Netball is a popular sport amongst the girls and they can often be spotted on the courts improving their shooting skills.

Over the past few years, Belhaven has fielded teams at U13, U12, U11, U10 and U9 level and this has allowed every girl to represent the school in at least one match. Matches allow the girls to play competitively and with good sportsmanship and afterwards socialising with other schools during a match tea. The past few seasons have seen the senior girls triumph in tournaments and win all but a couple of matches, scoring over 100 goals in fixtures during the term.

Highlights of the term’s senior netball fixtures include being selected for the Dandylions team (consisting of girls from local prep schools) to play against the WOSPS, patrol netball matches, a staff match and Mothers v Daughters matches.
