Hockey

Hockey has long been a sport at which Belhaven has done extremely well over the years and is coached throughout the Spring Term. All pupils, Girls and Boys, participate and there is also Unihoc coached during PE to supplement the hockey skills. There is also some Girls Hockey during the Autumn Term.

The school has a medium sized Astro pitch suitable for 6-a-side games but the Senior pupils train on the local Dunbar Astro pitch, on which the senior matches are played on Wednesdays.

We try to include as many of the pupils in matches as possible and run at least one team in every year group. It is a sport at which everyone can shine without the need for size or strength and all pupils are encouraged to develop their stick skills and, as a result, the school’s Astro is always busy.

Matches are normally played on Wednesdays and, most of the time, over half of the pupils are representing Belhaven on the hockey field.
