Cricket

As the days lengthen and temperatures rise, thoughts turn to Summer and cricket.

Kwik-cricket is played by boys at Under 9 level and cricket is played by all boys thereafter. All teams enjoy a number of matches throughout the season.

Belhaven Hill has two cricket fields, both with well-maintained turf wickets; four all-weather practice nets and an indoor net with a bowling machine that is an invaluable coaching tool, as well as being a life-saver in the fickle Scottish summers.

Cricket matches are either limited, thirty over affairs (This limited overs format, although anathema to many traditionalists, frequently leads to exciting finishes and so ensures that all participants are active in, and enthused by, the sport.), or the more traditional, timed matches.

The First XI regularly travels south to play English schools and to attend international matches. Belhaven Hill in turn hosts touring English teams on a regular basis. Towards the end of the term the boys enjoy single and double wicket competitions.
