Design Technology

At the heart of Design Technology education is the engagement of children with practical tasks that lead to products that serve a need, solve a problem or, in a word ‘work’. To be successful at this children need specific skills such as being able to measure and cut accurately and being able to work with other members of a team.

More specifically:

The children will develop a capability that encompasses knowledge and understanding of appropriate concepts and processes.
The children will be able to apply knowledge and skills by thinking and acting confidently, imaginatively, creatively and with sensitivity.
They will gain the ability to evaluate technological activities, artefacts and systems critically and constructively.
The children will have the opportunity to look at the work of professional designers / engineers and utilise and reflect on the ideas of these people.

At Belhaven Hill Design Technology is taught to Forms 5, 4 and 3.
Form 5 has 2 lessons per week : Form 4 has 2 lessons per week : Form 3 has 1 lesson per week.
