dynamic earth

Form 2 visited Dynamic Earth, putting their knowledge of Plate Tectonics into practice...

Dynamic Duo

Beginning with a lesson about the our restless Earth, Form 2 played a version of 'Rock eBay', buying and selling a selection of volcanic rocks.

"The grannies bought some pumice to rub the dry skin off their feet!" Rosabel

The first gallery that we visited was State of the Earth, where we learnt about our constantly changing planet. By jumping on a metal plate, we created an earthquake triggering seismic shock waves, creating a seismograph.

State of our Earth

After a trip in a time machine to over 650 million years ago, casulties such as the Sabre-toothed tiger and Dodo were examined as well as some survivors, including a lizard, which is our earliest known ancestor. Fortunately, we have evolved alot since then! Amelia

Riding an oceanic plate, we dived into the subduction zone along a destructive plate boundary, experiencing earthquakes before the eruption of an explosive volcano, where we were engulfed by a burning lava flow. Charlie & Kit

Surfing a glacier across Scotland during the last Ice Age, we dived into crevasses, glacial lakes and studied features of the eroded landscape around us. Hermione

"Why won't a polar bear eat a penguin?"

Most people know that polar bears live at the North Pole and penguins in Antarctica but the real reason is... that polar bears can't get the wrapper off! Sophie B

Entering the deepest, darkest jungle in Borneo, we experienced a tropical downpour of rain and learnt about how different animals adapt to the equatorial climate. Mairi
