Be Creative
Positioned with stunning views across to the beautiful Belhaven Bay and Bass Rock, the Art School at Belhaven is a lovely, bright and stimulating space in which creativity blossoms.

Be Expressive
The children are encouraged to express themselves and experiment with materials and techniques. Whilst exploring the visual world, the focus is on experiences and providing opportunity for inspiration and enjoyment.

Be Confident
Working across all disciplines, the children gain confidence in developing their creativity, ideas and skills. Within the studio, and outdoors, the children are able to explore Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture and Design.

Be Free
Within the Art School there is a particular focus on drawing, outdoor education and the natural world. The children can work from the coastal landscape, the buildings, gardens and trees within the extensive grounds and also explore a wide range of other starting points and themes.

Be Happy
Engagement with the Arts can improve well-being and at Belhaven the children have many opportunities to use the creative side of their brain. They are encouraged to have a mindful approach to their work, to slow down, to look, appreciate and enjoy the moment and materials.

Be Impressed
The children are rewarded by the experience and the outcomes of their endeavour. The children’s work is displayed in class, exhibited throughout the school and in a large end of year exhibition.
