Belhaven Choristers & Pipe Band Wow Edinburgh

Belhaven Choristers & Pipe Band Wow Edinburgh

The Belhaven Choristers and Pipe Band had a very successful outing to Edinburgh on Saturday 11th June.

The Pipe Band’s first performance was in St. Andrew Square Garden to a crowd of at least 100. Next was a quick stop outside Waverley station to play 'Scotland the Brave' (Drums only) and the fantastic Belhaven Drum Salute written by our wonderful drum corp teache,r Dave Henry. There was a huge crowd.

Both the Choristers and Pipe Band then performed a short concert at the Bandstand in the Princes Street Gardens to an audience of about 100 (most likely more would have turned up but it was unfortunately drizzling a little), nevertheless it was a good opportunity to premiere two new pieces by the Choristers ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’ by Rutter.

After lunch, there was a quick dash over to St. Giles' Cathedral. The Choristers then robed up and performed by far their best concert to date to a packed cathedral with every seat taken, in addition to a huge crowd at the back; many tourists stopping to take pictures and videos of them! The Choristers felt rather famous. There were many hundreds of people watching.

Finally, the Pipe Band performed their full set list to a huge crowd just outside the cathedral which was thoroughly enjoyed by the public and was met with a rapturous round of applause and cheering.

The performances throughout the day were all of a very high standard. Astonishingly good. All pupils involved should not only be proud of themselves for how fantastically they played/sang, but also for the way they carried themselves, all being immaculately behaved and polite. Discipline is so very important in music and especially for groups such as Choristers and a Pipe Band. Well done indeed to all involved.
