Tournament at Ardvreck
Silver Medals Won
On Wednesday, 1st March we travelled to Ardvreck for their U11 Tournament. For once it was glorious sunshine! The girls were very excited but also slightly nervous. We had three matches to play in our pool; against Fettes, Kilgraston and Loretto. The winner would go into the final against the winner of the other pool.
Our first match was against Loretto. The matches were only six minutes long so we knew we couldn’t afford to have a slow start. The girls played well and we won 1-0.
Our second match was against Kilgraston. We had a close game with them earlier in the term so we knew that this would be a tough one. The girls had a super game and made numerous, accurate passes. They grew in confidence and began to pick up the speed of their game. They won 2-0.
Our third and final match in the pool stage was against Fettes. This was particularly exciting for me because the Fettes coach is my sister! The girls were determined to win! They had a great game and they continued to make super passes and they were moving beautifully into spaces. The final result was 3-0.
We won our pool so we went into the final against St.Mary’s. We had played them earlier in the term and lost by rather a large margin. However, the girls have made super progress since then and our team was now back to full strength after illness. Belhaven scored the first goal but St.Mary’s fought back and scored two quick goals. The game got a little scrappy as nerves took hold but there were areas of excellent netball. The girls did themselves proud! The final score was 4-2 to St.Mary’s. The girls received a lovely silver medal and there were lots of smiles all round! A fab day girls, well done!
