Belhaven Christmas Fair – Charity Event
Since, very sadly, the children were unable to enjoy the delights of the Edinburgh Christmas Fair this year, we thought it would be fun to bring the fairground to us! On Sunday 6th December, we launched our very own Belhaven Fair with the proceeds going to the charity, 'Can Do East Lothian' (https://www.can-do.scot).
In the weeks leading up to the event, senior patrol members were invited to invent and craft fairground stalls with the aim of attracting the most custom, thus winning points for their teams. The games were created with recycled and recyclable materials and saw a great range of activities including 'tin bowling' and 'lucky balloon popping' and 'pie throwing'. The children could also make their own wrapping paper; attend the Christmas photo booth and have their faces painted. Biscuit decorating was also a firm favourite.
The afternoon ended, for juniors, with a visit to Santa's Grotto and a Christmas film.
Each bubble had their own session at the fair – the juniors so enjoyed the surprise of the games laid on for them by the seniors, but I think the seniors had a lot of fun too!
The tokens, given to the children as spending money, are being counted to ascertain the winners of the competition and we will announce the funds raised through the fair shortly.
Thank you to all the seniors who took part and the teachers who helped on the day.
