Outdoor Education

Come rain or shine, all of the children have one lesson of Outdoor Education per week.

During this they learn a range of vital life skills such as: identifying flora and fauna; cooking on camp stoves; building emergency shelters and First Aid, all accompanied by hot chocolate and the endlessly fascinating process of lighting and maintaining a fire.

As well as the many life skills learned in these popular lessons, the children grow more resilient through their experiences: that subconscious education is so vital to the formation of happy memories.

All year groups have also taken part in 'Camp Outs' in the woods and Bushcraft courses with Woodland Ways, ranging from 1 day to 5 nights under the stars!

The [Belhaven] children are credit to your school and to the wider community. A huge well done for everything they achieved over a whole week of living in the woods. Their fortitude was inspirational...
