Choristers

Choristers

Newly formed in the Autumn of 2020 was our specialist choir, the Belhaven Choristers.

This is a fully traditional robed choir with a set number of 24 places. All singers are auditioned, and must first be members of our Boys' Choir or our Girls' Choir. Our best 12 boy singers and  best 12 girl singers are chosen to make up the 24 strong choir.  The choir wear robes of Cassock and Surplice for most of their performances.

The 24 singers are led by two Head Choristers (a Boy & Girl) and two Deputy Head Choristers (Boy and Girl) from Form 1.

As well as leading all the Sunday Services, both in school and at local churches, the Choristers also lead the School Carol Services,  both Remembrance Services and sing at several concerts in and out of school.  The Choristers receive a special tie and jumper, and there have been many recent successes for Choristers at Music Scholarships to future schools, with singing playing a major part in their awards.  At large scale school concerts, the Choristers join with the Boys' and Girls' Choirs to form the full School Choir, involving over 80% of all pupils in the school.

During 2021/2022 the Choristers will be visiting a number of cathedrals to perform as a visiting choir, including a weekend away. In the Summer of 2022 a continental tour is planned for the Choristers to sing in several prestigious venues.
