Charitable Events & Activities – Autumn 2024
PTFA Charitable Activities (Autumn 24)
As some of our Form 1s visited Lammermuir House and the Choir entertained the community at St. Anne’s in this last week, we have been reflecting on a term of events centred on the School that have created opportunities for people to come together.
We are hugely grateful to the PTFA who have worked alongside the School to provide a huge range of activities and events that have benefitted not only our parents and children but also the local community and its charities. From fireworks to festive shoeboxes, cardio tennis to wreath-making courses, it has been a varied and busy term!

The first autumn term of 2024 was a bustling and exciting period for the Belhaven Hill School PTFA, filled with a variety of engaging events for both children and parents.
The PTFA agenda began with the much-anticipated return of the Countryside Fair, an event thoroughly enjoyed by parents and children alike. Alongside hands-on activities such as apple pressing, butter making, and a chutney-making demonstration, attendees participated in sporting challenges including fly fishing, putting, and a colourful assault course. The day culminated in a thrilling tug-of-war competition. Adding to the enjoyment was a vast array of delicious home-cooked food, lovingly prepared by Belhaven families, which brought everyone together to share and celebrate the community spirit. As the autumn colours deepened, the PTFA lent their support to a lively Bonfire & Fireworks Night, which brought together the school community and friends from West Barns Primary School for a dazzling evening of entertainment. Catch a glimpse of the event with our Instagram reel.
Meanwhile, throughout the term, parents were able to practise their tennis skills with the PTFA’s Friday Super Drill Sessions, led by local tennis coach, Roddy Barbour. This weekly event combined fun with a competitive edge, fostering camaraderie and enthusiasm among the participants.
With the festive season approaching, the focus shifted to Christmas preparations. The PTFA contributed a carload of Christmas shoeboxes, generously prepared by Belhaven families, to Blythswood Care, spreading seasonal joy and generosity. The Pre-Prep and Junior Prep children then enjoyed Belhaven's first ever movie night showcasing a traditional Christmas movie. They were able to relax with friends in a cosy atmosphere, indulging in popcorn and other treats.
To close the term on a festive note, parents participated in a Christmas wreath-making course led by, current parent, Rowena from Pixie Rose. Overlooked by the magnificent School Christmas tree, participants crafted beautiful wreaths while enjoying mulled wine, the scent of fresh evergreens, and cheerful holiday tunes.
This vibrant mix of activities enabled the PTFA to raise valuable funds for Belhaven's chosen charity for the year, the RNLI Dunbar, and for the PTFA's projects to enhance and improve the school's programs and activities. It also demonstrates the dedication of Belhaven's families to fostering community spirit and creating memorable experiences for all, something for which the PTFA and the School is hugely grateful.
