Boys Rugby 2nd v Craigclowan

Boys' Rugby: 2nd v Craigclowan

The Second Team arrived north for what has been their only 13 a-side game of the season. With key players missing through illness it was up to others to step up to roles of leadership and organisation. Ted led the way in the warm up whilst Harry and Laurie set the tone in defence with some strong tackling in the opening stages of the game. Some strong running and impressive handling from the opposition captain resulted in a number of imposing tries with no response. This was until Pedro broke through a resolute defence to record the first and only try for Belhaven. He successfully converted his own try to add 7 deserved points on the score line.

In the second half, debutant Campbell made a string of spectacular runs breaking the line on a number of occasions. He also made big hits on the wing and was the deserved recipient of the player of the match award. Unfortunately, Belhaven were unable to add any points in the second half as the match became stretched with a number of substitutions.

The boys will reflect on this tough defeat and hopefully learn that tackles need to be made more frequently across the pitch and not just rely on certain individuals to do it for them. They must also work on being more resilient in the face of adversity, particularly when the opposition has the better of them.

Final Score: 45 - 7
