Boys' Rugby: U11B v Craigclowan

Boys' Rugby: U11B v Craigclowan

Continuing the theme of high-scoring matches, Belhaven and Craigclowan managed to cook up a 30-try match yesterday, following on from 23 - 7 and 27 - 12 wins against Loretto and Ardvreck previously.  The game had, sadly, little structure, basketball rugby taking place as each team took it in ‘turns’ to score and no team ever being more than two tries ahead.

At half-time we went in 9 - 7 down but stirring performances from Will and Archie R. dragged us back level and from 13 - 13 it was even stevens until we scored with the very last play to tie things at 15-all.

During the first half in particular we were poor at rucking over a made tackle, thus offering possession time and again to the opposition and in the second half our tackling generally went out of the window, with boys grappling too high and not getting our defensive line up anywhere near quickly enough.  That said, we ran forward strongly, supported each other ably and there were some excellent aspects to individuals’ play.  Charlie tackled like a demon in the second half, Will was a leader throughout and Archie and Sam ran well in attack, scoring between them 13 of our 15 tries.

In the end a draw was a fair result, meaning our tries’ total this term is:
scored 99, conceded 34.

Here’s to 100 next week!
