End of Term Music

"Where Words Fail, Music Speaks"

As the swift abandonment of every kind of gathering now becomes a particularly unwelcome habit, we look to promote the importance of performance as essential for the positive development of Belhaven’s pupils. Christmas is always a busy time for choristers and so it proved for Belhaven’s 24! With the girls’ and boys’ choirs also rehearsing for the end of term Carol service, the music school has seen a flurry of activity. Wind and rain put paid to our plan to sing in the garden of the local care homes and so we made a recording around the Christmas tree instead and have sent this to them via our ‘Together With Music’ partnership.

We had hoped to lead a traditional service of Nine Carols and Lessons at St. Anne’s Church in Dunbar but this was not possible in the end - all of our attention therefore focused on the end of term service, generously hosted by Rev. Gordon Stevenson in Dunbar Parish Church. What an incredible occasion this was and enormous thanks and praise to the choristers, both junior choirs, string and wind ensembles as well as the brass quartet from Haddington who came to support some extraordinary singing. Well done Mr. Ellison - this was a tour de force. See for yourself.
